At the heart of Squash 4 Africa is a powerful idea, that Squash can be a unifying force across the continent, transcending borders, backgrounds, and socioeconomic status. It's more than just a sport, it's a platform for growth, empowerment, and African collaboration.
Leading this movement is a visionary who has dedicated his life to grassroots development through sports: Dikana Mthombeni, the Founder and Executive Director of Squash 4 Africa.
A vision for the Continent
Dikana Mthombeni's dream is bold yet grounded - to build a thriving, interconnected network of grassroots squash programs across Africa. This network will not only allow African nations to learn from one another, but also encourage collaboration, resource sharing, and continental excellence. His vision is clear: Empower communities, invest in young talent, and build a better Africa through squash.
Squash 4 Africa isn't just about building low-cost squash courts or running programs. It's about creating a African Squash ecosystem where local initiatives aren't isolated but instead work together- exchanging knowledge, sharing tools, supporting each other's growth, and collectivelly pushing for continental and global representation. Whether it's rural villages or inner-city schools, Dikana believes every African child should have access to the life-changing power of squash.
About Dikana Mthombeni
Dikana's leadership is rooted in experience, impact, and authencity. As the co-founder of Egoli Youth Empowerment, he helped shape one of Africa's largest and most successfull squash dvelopment initiatives. Under his stewardship as CEO, Egoli Squash evolved into a powerhouse for youth empowerment, producing national level players, building academic support structures, and transforming lives in some of South Africa's underserved communities
His influence expanded further as the chairperson for Development at Joburg Squash, where he played a strategic role in ensuring equitable access to squash and identifying promising talent from non-traditional backgrounds. Through his work Dikana has become one of the continent's most respected voices in grassroots sports development - a leader who has seen both challenges and untapped potential that lie within Africa's youth.
Squash 4 Africa is now positioning itself as the umbrella body for squash development programs across the continent- offering guidance, building partnerships, and setting up frameworks for sustainable growth. By building low-cost squash courts, hosting cross-border tournaments, facilitating training for coaches, and helping programs raise funds with transparency and integrity, Squash 4 Africa is laying the foundation for a new era.
Dikana Mthombeni is not just building a network. He's building a movement - one where excellence is the norm, collaboration is the culture, and Africa stands tall on the global squash stage.
Follow the journey. Support the vision. Join the movement. This is Squash 4 Africa.
